Music Production Programs i recommend

if you are a mac user i have three programs i can't live without. these three are Logic Pro 9, Cubase 6 & believe it or not garageband. garageband is a perfect way to start learning the basic of audio and midi recording with its easy to use straight forward functions. Cubase i recommend being a intermediate program. although it is more intense then garageband and has amazing recording capability is just doesn't compare to the beauty of logic. Logic is by far my favorite recording program but it is very pricey and you need to know what your doing to be able to properly use this program.

For windows users. when i used to use windows i only ever used three programs Fruity loops, Mixcraft & Cubase. Windows is definitly not my favorite os for audio recording but i am a fan of fruity loops thats how i got started. although it is not very easy to use it is a very good beat making program and midi program, i DO NOT recommend it for audio recording. I was also a huge fan of mixcraft, before i got my macbook pro, because it is basicly a garageband knock off for windows and runs quite well. Of course i end on cubase for windows i was never a fan of reason if your wondering why i didn't mention it but i definitly like cubase. its the only program that is identical on mac and on windows which makes it easy for me to transfer files from my mac to my windows.

What program do you use?

What do you listen too?

After many years i have come to the conclusion that my music style is "varied" there is only one style i can say i do not like and that would be country. i personally love indie and metal for example bands such as: - Broken Social Scene, Dr.Acula, Lydia (who have sadly broken up), The Spill Canvas, Dan Mangan, Abandon All Ships, Attack Attack!, For Today, Between the Buried and Me (saw them live one of the best shows i've ever seen). I am recently doing a Entertainment law assignment and i am comparing the styles of bands to which diferent issues with the law they may find. With that being said let's all help eachother out and find new music that we love. post in this blog about 4-5 bands that you know off the top of your head. spread this blog and lets see if we can have atleast a couple hundred bands when its all said and done.

Thanks, The Frog

What's Rising?

when you think of the industry and today's music what is the first thing that comes to mind? the downfall of quality i.e., Justin Beiber. do you think having so many indie labels is a good thing or should we go back to the 1970 with the 4 major labels? let me know what you think.

U.S. Goverment Trying To Pass Download Fee

the u.s. government is currently lobbying with help from universal and EMI to add a 75$ fee to your ipod that would in return pay the music industry for using the music whether it is legal or not. what are some thoughts?

Music Piracy

I want some feedback about music being downloaded for free. personally I believe free music is the number one way to get your music out there. if your just starting out it would be ideal to have a ep for free on myspace or a site where people can download it. what do you think? should all music be free or just some or even none?

Music Production $$$

Need your music mastered? live in the Ottawa area and need a cheap producer. any questions about music production? post here let me know what you think and if you need a hand or advice.

Toronto Maple Leafs.. Where Are they going?

i am a Toronto maple leafs fan and recently i have notices a few things i approve and don't approve of. I personally think the leafs should get rid of giguer while they can get something for him. i also think the leafs should mainly focus on getting a top 6 forward... what do you think?
